Troubleshooting
Find the symptom, read what it means, and apply the fix.

401 authentication_required | No Authorization header. | Send Authorization: Bearer $TESSEN_API_KEY. Check the variable is set in this shell. |
401 invalid_api_key | The key is wrong, truncated or revoked. | Create a new key in the Console and export it again. |
400 model_not_found | Unknown model id, or your account is not in the pilot. | Use one of z1, z1-code, h1, project-zero; request access if you need a family. |
402 insufficient_credits | The wallet cannot cover the worst-case cost. | Lower max_tokens, or contact Tessen if you are a pilot account. |
403 zero_entitlement_required | You are not enrolled in ZERO Alpha. | Run tessen zero status, or ask Tessen for enrollment. |
413 request_too_large | max_tokens is above the model's limit. | Lower it to 16384 or less. |
| 422 | The body is invalid. | Read detail[].loc and detail[].msg; commonly a missing messages. |
503 zero_capacity_unavailable | A ZERO limit closed. | Read error.limit; wait for Retry-After / reset_at. |
Empty content, finish_reason: "length" | The output limit ran out, often during reasoning. | Raise max_tokens to 1024 or more. |
The stream ends with an error frame | A refusal inside a 200 stream. | Check each frame for error before reading choices. |
response_format has no effect | It is not supported. | Prompt for JSON, validate, retry. |
Images return 404 capability_unavailable | Image generation is not enabled. | Nothing to fix; see Images. |
